Margins to Maritime Passage: Africa’s Cities – A Collaborative Rise in the Global Neutral Trade Network, sets out a bold vision for Africa’s transformation from the margins of globalisation into a continental engine of connectivity. Anchored in the TBP Middle East–Africa Neutral Trade Corridor — the world’s first transcontinental maritime and rail Crossrail system — African cities are being reimagined as Neutral Trade Cities, hubs of neutrality, resilience, and innovation.

This corridor, stretching over 15,000 km from the Atlantic to the Indian Ocean, connects six of the world’s great seas — the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Red Sea, Arabian Gulf, Arabian Sea, and Indian Ocean. It reduces transit times, bypasses chokepoints, and integrates Africa’s coastal and landlocked economies through a single, seamless neutral trade framework. Within this design, cities such as Dakar, Cairo, Johannesburg, Lamu, Nairobi, Kigali, Kisumu, Lagos, and Abuja emerge not only as gateways to global markets, but as collaborative anchors of industrialisation, agro-allied innovation, and fintech-enabled trade.

The TBP Crossrail Corridor is more than transport infrastructure: it is a continent-wide fulfilment and industrial zone, integrating Special Economic Zone (SEZ) frameworks, agro-allied smart cities, renewable-powered logistics hubs, and a sustainable water system that connects oceans to agriculture and industry. This network enables ad hoc trading through Trade On D Go®, live negotiation through Trade Agreement On D Go™, and financial inclusion through corridor-wide FinTech.

In this vision, Africa is not adapting to the old trade order but is co-architecting a new one. Its cities, once viewed as peripheral, are recast as maritime and rail-linked anchors in the longest neutral supply chain in the world — bridging continents, powering industrialisation, and embedding African innovation into the architecture of global trade.
